Thanks for your kind words and valued support Stephen!
I can only echo what other enthusiasts for the project have said, just adding that I’ll be using the pool every week, regardless of the weather 🥴😊👍! Please, please, please don’t let anyone or anything put you off the sterling work you’ve all put in over the years. Many thanks. 🙏
Paul, thank you so much for your interest in Broomhill Pool and you much valued support 🙂
Where are the diving boards?
DIVING STAGE: Thanks for your interest. Please see the The Broomhill Pool Trust, Ipswich page for more information. The Trust understands that any works to the diving stage will be in the second phase of the restoration plans. There is a lot to consider and sort with the original Wicksteed stage (which we believe is part of the pool’s Grade II listing).
There needs to be further studies and surveys as to whether it can be restored, enhanced, and utilised. Or whether it becomes a preserved feature.
The Trust is working closely with Fusion Lifestyle on this. We have lobbied to ensure that a diving stage, restored or a new version, is part of the plan.
The Trust has already successfully lobbied to secured the pool depth at 15ft so that diving is a very much possible. Broomhill will continue to be the deepest outdoor public pool in Britain (jointly with Hilsea Lido in Portsmouth). So while the depth remains, there is a very strong argument to use it for diving.
We have also secured the popular 1m spring board in the first phase.
The Trust believes that Fusion understands the importance of the boards at Broomhill and will work with us to find a solution. Meantime, we want to use public sentiment and support to continue to press for Fusion’s commitment and supplementary funding for diving stage and electronic boom. Please continue to follow our website and facebook pages as will be working towards and seeking support to achieve this aim.
